Mapping Strings to Screenshots
Once you’ve uploaded screenshots to your project, you can map strings from your files to each screenshot. These screenshots will then become visible to your translators inside the Editor. You can map strings through the web UI or our API.
To map strings to screenshots through the web UI:
Select the project you want to map strings for.
Click on Context.
Hover over a screenshot and click Map strings. Learn about the two ways to map the strings below.
Hit Save in the top right to save your mappings. Or to go back to the last saved version of the current screenshot, click the Revert button.
You can navigate to the next screenshot by going to the submenu, then clicking on the file name of the current screenshot. A dropdown will appear and there you’ll be able to select or search for another screenshot to tag.
To make this process more automated, you can also map and unmap strings to screenshots through our API (available on the Enterprise plan).
1. The default way is to use the marquee tool. Simply drag your cursor over a string on the screenshot. A search box will appear. Use the search box to look up the string you marked on the screenshot. Then click on the string in the search results to finish mapping it to the selected area.
- You can search by source text or string's key. When you search by key, please keep in mind that the system searches for exact matches and search is case insensitive.
- Please also note that the maximum number of strings that can be displayed while typing a source text is 40. So, in case you cannot find what you are looking for, use the second alternative option described below.
2. The second way to map strings is by picking a string from a strings list.
This option provides a broader range of string results and might be easier to work with and find the strings you are looking for.
You can then hover over a corner of the text box to resize it.
